ABOUT
Hi there, my name is Fiona Hallam and I have been teaching yoga since 2015.
I am also an experienced and qualified secondary school dance and drama teacher.
My interest in the biomechanics of the body developed during my senior school dance and stage experiences, continued through my years as a performing art school teacher, and blossomed while managing a surf centre at a resort in the Maldives where my skills in identifying and correcting body alignment and movement were sharpened. Back home in Australia, I am excited to connect and create a new space combining body and mind practices.
Choosing to travel for several years immersing myself in other cultures, I absorbed different approaches to teaching movement through observing dance, martial arts, surfing, deep sea diving, and yoga. It was a joy for me.
My own practice in yoga developed together with a greater understanding of its many benefits. This led my path of work and study to continue to grow as an individual and built the desire to teach my findings.
I completed my first yoga instructor course at the internationally recognised Arhanta Ashram in India in 2015.
After teaching yoga for some time, my love of the sea and nature combined easily, and I developed my own Stand-Up Paddleboard Yoga program at the resort where I was co-managing the surf operations. A great option for non-surfers or when waves were small. Completing a SUP Yoga Teacher Training course in Indonesia, I continued sharing this beautiful practice at 5 star resorts in the Maldives with International clients.
I have also completed courses in Yin Yoga, a special Teen Yoga Teacher course and continue to grow and learn each day.
My classes help students develop strength, flexibility and balance, whilst highlighting the physical, mental and spiritual benefits of yoga, to bring harmony between body and mind.
Creating a safe, warm, welcoming and positive environment allows students the freedom to express and challenge themselves confidently at their own pace. My professional training and approach, combined with a healthy sense of humour allows my classes to be challenging but also fun. I hope you can join me.
